Piancornello is a a fourth-generation winery in the village of Montalcino where traditional winemaking and respect for the territory are paramount. Piancornello is an organically farmed and minimal interventionist winery on the south side of Montalcino, in the Sesta "cru" between Castelnuovo dell'Abate and and Sant Angelo in Colle . All of the wines are standout, and they make several iterations of Sangiovese Grosso. From their stalwart Brunello di Montalcino and Riserva, to their entry level Sangiovese, "Rogheto", the meticulous care that Claudio and Silvia give to their vines shines in every glass. They are also noted for being one of the only wineries to craft a wine from 100% Ciliegiolo. "Per Emma" is one of our favorites, with unique characteristics to the varietal so often field blended with Sangiovese Grosso. These wines are nothing short of stunning, lauded by critics the world over.
